Get beautiful glimpses of the ancient monuments like forts of Vishalgad and Prabal and enjoy gorgeous sunsets from this point.

Panorama point:

As the name suggests, this viewpoint renders stunning panoramic views of the Sahyadri ranges. Very popular as a sunrise point, you can spot Neral on east and Panvel on the west.
Other points you could visit are the One Tree Hill Point, Sunset Point, Monkey Point, Maldunga Point and Heart Point.

Matheran has become popular as a destination for thrilling activities, indulge in trekking to the Chanderi Caves, take a hike or go waterfall rappelling at the Dodhani waterfalls.

Take a lazy ride: For the faint hearted or for a more leisure experience take a ride on the Toy Train from Matheran to Neral and back which goes zig zag past a thrilling 280 turns through the Sahyadri ranges, it is definitely a do not miss experience for all tourists.

I am sure shopping would not be on your list of to-dos in this charming hill station, you would rather indulge in its natural beauty. Though do not miss out on having the local sweet ‘Chikki’ and the honey which is very popular here.

Mumbai is the closest major city and the best way to reach Matheran is by road due to its close proximity to Mumbai at distance of 104 km. By Air, the closest option is the Mumbai Airport. Although if you prefer to travel by train the nearest railway station is Neral.
